The Marías
Hey! So going off of my last post, I decided years ago that a continuous goal of mine would be to search for new music genres that excite me. This has been a great experience because I’m able to appreciate new music while defining my musical palette. Today I would like to spotlight a band I’ve grown to love, The Marías.
When I first began my journey, I started diving into the alternative/indie genre. I would bounce around from playlist to playlist until I found a curated list through Apple Music. On this list, it featured multiple artists that I have grown to admire and listen to, but one band stood out more than the rest to me: The Marias.

The Marias have been a band since 2016 based out of Los Angeles, California. Their style of music can be described many ways, but those who have defined it have used the keyword; Dreamy. Maria, the frontwoman for the band, uses lyrics in both English and Spanish paired with jazz influence to create a hypnotic experience for her fans. My favorite example of this pairing would be their song, Cariño, from the Superclean, Vol II EP. They continued this sound onto their debut album, Cinema, which released in 2021. This would be followed up with a thirty three show tour around the US with more announced later in the year expanding to other countries.
Following their successful debut album they would be featured a year later on projects like Un Verano Sin Ti by Bad Bunny and Data by Tainy. Not to mention their most recent feature on Selena Gomez’ I Said I Love You First. With that being said I believe the Marias are still rising, and I can only hope for their enchanting music to reach further audiences.
